ex-directory

ex-directory is a new label in London, England. The company was created specifically to focus on softer alternative rock, dream pop, classical and world music. The focus is on music that falls outside of conventional boundaries of classification, whilst demonstrating large-scale commercial and international appeal. Taking inspiration from labels such as ECM, 4AD and One Little Indian, ex-directory will become a central platform for leftfield music worldwide. Moving away from the typical record label model, the company is more a 21st Century marketing brand and quality filter than a conventional record label. Founded by entrepreneurs Ger Tuyn, James Mansfield and Neil Storey (Nitin Sawnehey, Island Records and Six Finger Records), the label currently has 6 albums in the pipeline. The first ex-directory release is Hotel de Ville's self-titled album in April 2006.
